I never have been a woman who gains self-esteem from a clean house. If I had all the time in the world, dusting is the last thing I would think about doing.
I'm not a total slob, mind you. I like things neat...but it always seems beyond me to keep it that way.
Which brings me to my subject: vacuuming. I think that vacuuming is the most boring housekeeping task ever. It is so tedious. And yet, there's probably not another chore that makes the whole house look nicer overall.
I don't know why I hate it, perhaps it's the noise. I used to have to grit my teeth while someone else vacuumed because the sound of the motor whirring, whirring, whirring made me want to scream. It doesn't seem to bother me as much when I'm doing the vacuuming. Why is that?
So in my current house, I have found a way to beat it (mostly). The answer is.....drumroll........hard wood floors. Now I just take a swiffer and sweep the corner and life is beautiful once again.
Perhaps if I live long enough, I will live to see self-cleaning floors. Any Einsteins out there looking for something to invent? Take the idea. Run with it. I won't even sue for profits.
So, anyone who is out there...
What is your least favorite housekeeping chore? Any vacuum soulmates out there?

When we divvy up the chores, you will find Laurel loves the laundry and will work the floors. I'm a dish doing kinda guy. But I agree with you... vacuuming sucks...
wow. which chore do I like the least? catbox? dusting? laundry? garbage duty? certainly not hard-surface floors since the invention of the swiffer with the bottle of that amazing cleaning fluid--the only cleaning device ever purchased by jr that I believe in. vacuuming? Well, no. In the early years of our first real house, I figured out that the house was so small that I could vacuum the livingroom carpet in less than three minutes. Then I realized that I could usually empty and fill the dishwasher in less than five. And so on. The weekly chores don't bother me much especially since jr likes to do most of them-for only $50 or so. My least favorite chores are those that aren't done every week, so they take more effort--like wiping down the walls, or cleaning the windows, (like I've ever done that!) cleaning the oven or shower, or cleaning out the cupboards or closets. Probably explains why they are not done right now and likely will not be done in the next few weeks. It's summertime and the livin' is easy.
